The $50 retargeting tool I thought was snake oil

I spent six months ignoring those cheap retargeting popups because I figured they were spammy junk. Then a client in Phoenix asked why their abandoned cart rate was so high and I finally caved and tried one that costs $50 a month. After 3 weeks we recovered 12 lost sales worth about $1,400 total from people who literally left mid-checkout. Has anyone else had a tool that seemed too basic to work but actually pulled through?

That one weekend I tried to refinish my deck and everything went wrong

I decided last June to finally strip and stain my old deck. Thought it would take a day, but the power washer broke after 20 minutes. Then I realized the stain I bought was 2 years old and had separated, so that was a bust. Ended up spending $80 on a new washer rental and another $45 on fresh stain. Finally got it done by Sunday evening, but my back hurt for a week after. Has anyone else had a simple DIY project turn into a whole weekend ordeal?

I checked my analytics yesterday and saw that 100th post went up without a single share or comment, so what's the point of hitting that milestone if the algorithm just buries it anyway?

That mechanic in Tulsa told me to skip the coolant flush on my 6.7

Guy at a shop in Tulsa said just drain and fill it every 30k instead of a full flush. Been doing it for 2 years now and my temps stay rock solid. Anyone else run into this debate about flushes on high-mileage engines?

Found a 500-year-old pottery shard in my garden last month near Cincinnati

I was digging a new flower bed by my house and hit something hard. Pulled out this little piece of pottery with a blue floral pattern on it. Took it to the local historical society and they said it could be from a 16th century Native American trade site that used to be around here. Has anyone else randomly dug up artifacts at their place?

The cheap paint roller trick that saved my basement ceiling job

I was painting my basement ceiling last month in Edmonton and kept getting lint stuck in the finish. My buddy who does drywall for a living told me to wrap the roller in packing tape first to pull off any loose fibers. I did two wraps of tape, peeled it off, and the third roller was silky smooth. Has anyone else tried this or do you just buy the expensive microfiber rollers?

Warning: that fancy sous vide circulator I bought for my home kitchen was a total waste

I dropped about $300 on a high-end model last year, thinking I'd use it all the time for perfect proteins. Used it maybe four times, and now it just takes up a whole drawer. For the kind of volume and speed I need at the restaurant, it just doesn't fit the workflow at all. Anyone else buy a piece of gear for home that you realized was pointless for real kitchen work?

My neighbor told me to skip the gravel under my patio pavers...

He said the sand base would be fine for our clay soil in Ohio, but after the first winter, everything shifted and cracked. I'm looking at redoing about 200 square feet now. Has anyone else had this happen with a sand-only base?
