The job sheet in Jersey that made me question my whole setup
Last Tuesday I picked up a rush job in Newark and the print on the job sheet said 'tolerance +/- 0.005' but the part drawing clearly showed a press fit that needed half that. I ran the first piece and it came in at 0.004 out, so I stopped and called the engineer. He laughed and said the sheet was a template from a different customer, and the real spec was on page 3. I took a minute to check every page after that, because now I figure 15% of the job sheets I get have at least one outdated line. Has anyone else caught a bad spec on a multi-page packet that would have scrapped a whole run?

Page 3 holding the real spec is wild to me. You almost scrapped a whole run because some template from another customer got stuck in the packet. That is not a small slip, that is a setup that can cost thousands in material and machine time. Calling the engineer saved you, but what happens on the night shift when nobody picks up the phone? I would be checking every page of every packet from now on too. And if 15% of your sheets have a bad line, that is on whoever sends them out, not on you.
