The $1.50 envelope method that fixed my small business receipts

I kept losing paper receipts for work travel and it messed up my monthly budget tracking. Started using one envelope per week, labeled with the date range, and I drop every receipt in as soon as I get it. Last month I tallied $214 in deductions I would have missed. Anyone else use a simple physical system like this over apps?

The shoebox thing is relatable but here's the angle nobody's talking about: that physical system actually helps you catch fake or duplicate charges before they hit your card. Apps just log what the receipt says, they don't make you look at the paper and notice "wait, I didn't buy coffee there twice." Plus, having the actual receipt means you can dispute a wrong charge way easier. My bank tried to double charge me for a hotel once and the paper receipt saved my ass. Digital copies get deleted or lost in cloud storage, but that envelope is always sitting right there.

Man, isn't that the truth? I do the same thing but with a shoebox for each month. Pain in the butt to sort through sometimes but way better than scrambling at tax time. My app just sits there collecting dust.
