Warning: That $50 Udemy course on Python was a total waste for me

Bad first course can almost kill your motivation" - yeah I read this thing from a dev on Medium that said learning to code is like learning guitar. You don't start with theory. You start with three chords and a shitty song. Those textbook courses just break people down for no reason. Glad your buddy found The Odin Project though. Heard that one's solid. A friend of mine tried FreeCodeCamp after getting wrecked by a bootcamp and now he's doing React stuff for his job. The difference is night and day. Makes you wonder why these big hyped courses don't just build real stuff from day one. Like give people something that works before they even know what a variable is. That's the hook.

Hot take: AI writing tools are making us worse writers, not better

I don't know man, I feel like people are making this out to be some kind of crisis when it's really just a tool. Nobody's gonna forget how to talk to their barber or landlord because they asked a robot for help once. I ask my buddy for advice on emails all the time and nobody calls that a vocabulary crisis. ChatGPT is just a faster, dumber version of that. If you're really losing your ability to form sentences, that's on you for outsourcing every single thought to a machine. Why not just use it for the hard stuff and keep the simple stuff for yourself?

Hot take: AI writing tools are making us worse writers, not better

Ran it through three AI rewrites" man that hit home. My buddy @daniel140 told me he caught himself asking ChatGPT how to tell his barber he wanted a trim, and that's when he knew things had gotten weird.

Wasted $350 on a cheap auto-drain valve, here's the warning

Man, I feel your pain. I tried one of those cheapies from a no-name brand and it dumped all the air out of my tank overnight, compressor ran for like 4 hours straight before I realized what happened. Switched to a better brand too and learned the hard way that saving money on air system parts just costs you more in downtime and frustration.
