Not that serious, dude.

When my cutterhead grabbed an old tire in the Mississippi River near Baton Rouge

20 feet of piling with cables and barnacles? That is a proper nightmare right there. I can't imagine spending six hours torching that thing apart, especially with the barnacles ruining blades that fast. You guys earned every bit of that six hours, that's for sure.

Shoutout to the barista who told me espresso has less caffeine than drip coffee

Wait, hold on. I had to read that twice because I've been running on the same lie for 20 years. I used to buy those tiny little espresso cups thinking I was getting jacked up on caffeine. Turns out I was just paying three bucks for a sip of brown water while the guy next to me with the big mug was basically mainlining jet fuel. That 200mg number is wild. My brain just did a full system reboot.

Debate: Binge watching one show at a time vs juggling 3-4 shows at once. I tried both and one wins by a mile.

Season 3 of The Expanse was my turning point. I used to be a strict one show at a time person because I was worried about forgetting details. But then I started mixing that with a comedy like The Good Place and a reality show just for background noise. Now I keep 2 or 3 going at once and it actually helps me get through the slow parts of longer series. Your mileage may vary but for me the juggling approach keeps me from burning out on any single show.

Tried using a non-contact voltage tester on a circuit I thought was dead in an old Baltimore row house, and it didn't beep even though the line was still hot.

I had a close call three years ago in my 1930s bungalow that completely changed my mind on those non-contact testers. I used to think they were good enough for a quick check before touching wires. Then I got a false negative just like you described, and when I finally pulled out my multimeter, the line was still live. That moment scared me straight. Now I don't trust those little pens at all for anything but a very rough guess, especially in old wiring. They're too easily fooled by stray fields and interference, and I'd rather spend the extra few minutes with my meter than risk getting zapped.
