Had to pick between a fancy WeWork and a garage in East Austin for our startup's first real office

Ugh, that reminds me of my friend's place. They had squirrels get into their attic and it was a whole thing. They thought they sealed the main hole, but the little guys chewed a new one right next to the gutter. They ended up having to trim back a huge tree branch that was basically a bridge to the roof. Total pain.

After my brisket kept drying out, I tried wrapping it in butcher paper at 160 degrees instead of 170.

So you just gave your brisket a 10 degree head start on being juicy?

PSA: I finally stopped fighting the fat cap on my briskets

Jamie940 is missing out on the flavor a fat cap gives. That layer protects the meat from drying out, especially during a long cook. I leave almost a full inch on my brisket and it turns into juicy, tender bites, not a waxy mess. The key is giving it enough time at the right temp to slowly melt into the meat. A close trim just makes the flat too dry in my experience.

Serious question, has anyone else had their grocery bill cut in half by just switching stores?

Their limited selection also saves on labor costs, which is another huge part of the price difference.

The whole 'Detroit is back' story misses the real problem on the ground

You mentioned the street still floods every heavy rain. That's actually one thing I've seen get a bit better over on the west side, but only after years of complaining. The tax hikes are real though. It's frustrating because the money seems to go where the cameras are, not to fixing the basic stuff that keeps a neighborhood running. My supplier on the east side is dealing with the same stuff you are.
