Showerthought: my $200 planetary camera died mid Jupiter session on Tuesday, do you rebuild the setup or just grab a DSLR?
Blew a USB port on my ZWO after 40 mins of stacking, and now I'm weighing dropping another $200 on the same cam or going back to my old Canon. Part of me thinks the cheap DSLR shots from 2021 looked better anyway, what would you do?
Ha, I feel this in my soul. My first astro cam lasted exactly three sessions before the cooler fan started making a noise like a dying mosquito, and I went right back to my old Rebel T3i for a month. Here's the thing though, those "bad" DSLR shots from 2021 might just look better because you were learning and having fun with it, not fighting drivers at 2am. My advice is dig out the Canon first, shoot one clear night with it, and let that tell you which way to go before you drop another $200.
