Went to Rosie's Diner in Cleveland again on Tuesday and the cook finally told me about the "hangover burger" with a fried egg and hashbrown patty on top. Been eating there for a month, never saw it listed anywhere. Has anyone else found hidden stuff at regular spots that just never gets mentioned?

The cheap multimeter I swore by gave me a false reading on a 480V line

Been using this $18 pocket multimeter for 4 years. It worked fine for low voltage stuff around the house. Last Tuesday I was checking a motor feed in our plant in Tulsa. It showed 0 volts. Knew something was off because the contactor was still closed. Grabbed a Fluke from the maintenance cage and it read 486. Turns out the fuse inside my cheap one was blown the whole time. That could have gotten me killed. Now I test the meter on a known hot source before every single read. I still keep the cheap one as a backup but I don't trust it for anything past 24V. Anyone else ever catch a meter lying to them like that? What do you use for daily checks?

So I was at the big-box hardware store in Fresno yesterday, just grabbing a pack of zip ties, and I cut through the cereal aisle on my way to checkout. I noticed a small pile of silver screws scattered right under the shelf edge, like someone had dropped a whole row of them. I counted 17 before I got bored, and I realized they were all the same size, probably from a display rack that was slowly falling apart. I actually told a stock guy about it and he just shrugged, said "they redecorate this section every other month." I laughed and walked off, but now I keep picturing that shelf collapsing on some kid reaching for Lucky Charms. Burned 3 hours trying to get a broken sprinkler head out of the ground

I spent yesterday afternoon fighting with a stuck sprinkler head in my backyard in Phoenix. The thing was buried under rocks and dirt from the last owners, and I tried twisting it off with channel locks for an hour before giving up. Then I dug around it more, found a PVC joint I didn't know about, and snapped a pipe. Ended up having to cut everything out and glue in a new connector, which took another 2 hours. Ngl I used to just season raw pork and throw it in the pan. Then my friend tried one and said it was drier than his ex's texts. After he showed me a simple salt water brine for 30 minutes the texture changed completely. Anybody else have a cooking habit they stuck with after someone called them out?

Honestly I thought you needed a ton of oil to build up a good layer. Then I watched a video from a guy at a Lodge factory in Tennessee and he said use barely a drop. Now my eggs slide around like they're on ice after just two coats. Has anyone else been overdoing it this whole time?

Noticed my shovel angle was off after watching a pro at a job site

I was doing a retaining wall for a client in Oak Park last Tuesday. Old guy named Hank had his crew working next door. I watched him for 5 minutes. He kept his shovel nearly flat to the ground. I always dig at a steep 45 degree angle. Tried his way on the next row of dirt. Cut my time by half for each scoop. My back didn't hurt that night either. Had a terrible Tuesday then the best Wednesday of my whole year

Tuesday I tripped on a loose curb walking into the gym, twisted my ankle, and had to cancel 4 client sessions. Lost about $280 for the day and felt like a total clown. Then Wednesday morning, that same ankle felt fine and I ended up training a guy who signed up for 12 sessions on the spot. Just weird how one day can be pure garbage and the next day saves your whole week. Anyone else have a random flip like that out of nowhere?

Was totally against meal delivery kits until my sister forced me to try one last month

I thought those meal kit boxes were such a waste of money and packaging. But my sister signed me up for a free trial box after she saw me eating cereal for dinner three nights in a row. I picked a Thai basil beef bowl and it came with a little card that had step by step photos. Honestly I messed up the rice to water ratio but the sauce packet saved the whole thing. I was stuck on the bike path near the river yesterday, chain popped off and covered in grease. This random dude walks over from the coffee shop with a paperclip and basically threaded it back on like it was nothing. I was about to call for a ride. Rant: My Wednesday went completely off the rails in under 3 hours

So I had this whole day planned out, right. Got my coffee, sat down to tackle my inbox at like 9am. By 9:45, my laptop decided to auto-update Windows (no warning, just bam) and then froze for a solid 20 minutes. My brand new tape measure snapped at the 10 foot mark during a drywall job in Austin yesterday

I was finally getting into a rhythm cutting sheets for the garage ceiling and the metal tab just broke clean off. Now I'm stuck guessing the rest of the measurements and the whole room is gonna be uneven. Has anyone else had a brand new tool fail that fast or did I just get a lemon?
