Had to choose between a 6-foot level and a laser for a long ceiling job

That three hour layout is the worst part of the job. I've been burned by laser drift on long runs before, so I get your choice. My go-to now is a chalk line reel with a locking brake. I set one end, walk the line out tight, lock the reel, and snap from the middle. For a 20 foot ceiling, I'll use a lightweight pole to hold the line up without a ladder. It cuts that setup time in half and saves your neck.

Honestly thought those $40 drafting templates were a total gimmick until my boss made me use one on a rush job

Tbh it's wild how often the "gimmicky" stuff ends up being the real time-saver.

My neighbor convinced me to try a whole chicken in the air fryer

That lemon-herb combo is a winner. I did a whole chicken with rosemary, thyme, and lemon zest under the skin last Sunday. Let it sit in the fridge for a full day, @jenny47, and the flavor went deep into the meat. The skin crisped up like nothing else, and even the breast stayed juicy. It's my new go-to method for sure.

The Tuesday I lost a client and found a better one in the same hour

Right? Last week I dropped my phone in a puddle while telling my friend how careful I am with my stuff. It landed screen up in the only inch of water on the whole sidewalk.

Update: My attempt at a 'fast compost' pile in my backyard went very wrong

That rotten egg smell is brutal. Did you try to save the pile by mixing in a bunch of browns right away, or did you just start over?
