Update: I used to believe all therapy was a waste of time

About six months ago, I was sitting in my car outside a coffee shop in Portland, crying after a fight with my sister. I'd always thought talking to a stranger couldn't fix real problems. That day, I called a therapist my friend recommended. I've had 15 sessions since, and it's helped me see my own patterns in arguments. I was wrong to dismiss it. Has anyone else had a similar experience with changing their mind on getting help?

Last month in the shop, I was rebuilding a vintage Campagnolo crank and torqued the pinch bolts to spec, but the crank still had play. My boss, who's been at this for 40 years, told me to just tighten it until it felt right, and it worked perfectly. When do you guys decide to go by feel instead of the number on the wrench?

Dream me bought a $40 'reality anchor' from a vending machine in my old high school

In the dream, it was a little brass key that kept my dream self from getting pulled into other people's storylines (you know, like suddenly being at a wedding you didn't plan). Woke up and actually ordered a cheap keychain online for about the same price, just as a joke. Has anyone else ever bought a real thing because it had a weird job in a dream?

I was working with a local bakery here in Austin last quarter, and their old agency just blasted the same promo post across all platforms every single day for two months. No replies to comments, no asking questions, nothing. Their engagement tanked. We switched them to a plan where we actually answer every comment and ask our followers what flavors they want next. In three weeks, their post reach went up by 40% because people started talking to them. It's basic, but so many shops still just post and ghost. They forget it's called social media for a reason. What's the most basic thing you see other agencies still getting wrong with social?

Rant: My coolant mix was a total mess for a year because I never checked the refractometer

I was running my old Haas VF-2 for months, always thinking the finish looked a bit off and the tools were wearing fast. My buddy Mike from the shop over in Dayton finally asked to see my mix, took one look through my refractometer and just said 'Bro, you're reading it upside down.' A customer in Tulsa asked me to cut a 'Denver steak' from a chuck roll.

I'd only ever done it from a chuck shoulder clod, so I had to figure it out on the fly. It worked, but the grain was a bit different. Anyone else had a request that made you rethink a standard cut?

Noticed a big change in how long my cedar pickets last after switching to a different post treatment

I used to get about 7 years before rot set in at the ground line on my standard pressure-treated pine posts. Last fall, I switched to using a copper naphthenate paste on the below-grade section before setting them. The difference in the wood's condition after just one wet season is night and day. Anyone else have a go-to method for extending post life?

A 30-foot delivery of river rock blocked my driveway for three days
