I finally understood why my new patio kept flooding after every rain
A neighbor in Charlotte pointed out my gravel base was only 2 inches thick, not the 4 inches the pavers needed. Has anyone else messed up their base layer and had to redo it?

Oh my GOSH only TWO inches?? That's basically just a fancy layer of dust! No wonder it turned into a swimming pool. I can't believe the difference just a couple more inches makes, but it's EVERYTHING for drainage. I feel your pain, that's a brutal fix to have to dig everything back up.

Seriously, I read somewhere that even a half inch slope can make or break a patio. It's wild.
