My cordless clipper battery swelled up and almost caught fire mid-fade yesterday

I was finishing a skin fade on a regular client when my main clippers, a set I've had for about 2 years, got super hot and started smoking from the battery compartment, forcing me to grab my old corded backups to finish the cut.

I finally started using a cheap laser pointer for blind lifts and it cut my setup time in half

About six weeks ago on a tight site in Charlotte, my spotter was tied up and I had to place a duct bank section between two walls I couldn't see. I grabbed a $15 laser pointer from my truck and taped it to the cab window, lining the red dot up with my hook. The before was me inching it down and waiting for radio calls, maybe five minutes of guesswork. After using the laser, I had the block centered and set in under two and a half minutes because I could see exactly where my hook was over the target. Has anyone else tried a similar trick for those awkward, out-of-sight picks?

Spent a week in Playa del Carmen and the cafe work scene felt off

Every spot I tried to work from had a 2 drink minimum and the wifi kept dropping. I ended up just going back to my Airbnb after the third cafe in a row had the same issue. Does anyone know a good, quiet place to work from there that doesn't push you out after one coffee?

Finally finished my gravel patio after comparing two base materials

The crushed granite compacted way better than the pea gravel and didn't wash out after the first big rain here in Austin. Anyone have a go-to ground cover for the edges to keep it neat?

Just realized a trick for pulling wire through a tight 3/4 inch conduit bend

I was working on a rewire in an old house in Tacoma and hit a nasty 90-degree bend that my fish tape kept jamming on. Out of frustration, I grabbed a bottle of the homeowner's hair conditioner, mixed a bit with water in a spray bottle, and gave the wires a light coat. They slid right through the first try, no kidding. Anyone got other safe lubricants they use for tough pulls?

The old Otis 311 controller in the downtown bank building used to trip every Friday afternoon, but after we swapped the main contactor last month, it's been solid for 30 days straight.

Has anyone else had a specific part replacement just completely solve a ghost problem like that?

I was walking through the old cemetery in Savannah and saw something that got me thinking

There were a bunch of fresh letters tucked under the headstones, sealed and everything. I saw one addressed to 'Me, in 10 years' just sitting on a bench. It made me realize how many people use places like that to actually talk to their future selves, not just remember the past. It's a physical thing, not just an online post. Has anyone else ever left a real letter for themselves somewhere like that?
