My dad's sourdough starter story made me rethink my own.
He called me last week after I posted a picture of my first successful loaf. Said his starter has been alive for 40 years. Moved it across three states, even through a divorce. I never knew that. Here I am stressing about my two month old starter dying. He just keeps feeding it no matter what. Has anyone else inherited a family starter? How do you keep it going long term?

It is really that deep though" - that comment misses the whole point. That starter is a living record of your dad's whole life, not just flour and water. Forty years of moving and feeding it through hard times is something special.
