I was looking up some history on the job and found that out. It was laid from Ireland to Newfoundland, but the insulation failed fast. Makes you appreciate modern polyethylene jackets. Anyone know other old tech that failed hilariously quick?

I finally found a whole ancient pot after months of digging, but the lab work is taking ages

After digging in the same spot for three months, I found a complete ceramic pot from the Bronze Age. The lab says the preservation work and study could take another six months minimum. Has anyone dealt with such a long wait and how do you keep the team motivated? I'm worried about losing funding if we don't show progress soon.

Am I the only one who's remote work getaway to a Greek island backfired with constant distractions?

I booked a month in a cute Airbnb on Mykonos, envisioning serene mornings with my laptop overlooking the sea, but it's been anything but peaceful. The place is surrounded by tourist bars that blast music until 3 AM, making it impossible to focus or sleep before early meetings with my EST team. I've had to juggle Zoom calls from my bathroom because it's the only quiet spot, and even then, the internet cuts out whenever the neighborhood power fluctuates. Trying to hit deadlines while dodging beachgoers who think I'm just lounging with a coffee has become a daily battle. Last week, I missed a critical client update because a ferry procession outside drowned out my audio, and my boss thought I was ignoring her. Now I'm spending more on mobile data than on food, and the 'workation' fantasy feels like a costly joke, lmao. Is this just the reality of mixing travel with remote gigs, or did I pick the worst possible location?
