inRealized I was over-tightening the governor rope clamps all this time.
Actually that spec is right but the tricky part is using an inch-pound wrench, not foot-pounds. Lots of guys grab the wrong tool from their box and don't realize it until the threads are already gone, lol. I've seen it happen a bunch, the click on an inch-pound wrench feels super light. Just double check you didn't grab the bigger one by accident.

inFound a quick fix for sagging gate hinges last week
Actually @dakotab93, welding it on would be overkill for this trick. The rebar in the post was just a temporary prop to hold the gate's weight while they worked on the hinges, not a permanent fix. It's a solid idea because it takes the load off so you can make your adjustments without fighting the sag. Once the hinges are set right, you pull the rebar out and the gate should stay put. That's why it's such a handy speed trick for a quick repair.
