That time I swore my sleep tracking app was lying to me...

For 2 weeks my app said I woke up over 20 times a night, but I felt fine. Then I recorded myself with a cheap camera from Target - turns out I was thrashing around and mumbling every 45 minutes without remembering a thing. Has anyone else caught their own 3 AM habits on video and been totally shocked?

...and that's why I don't trust those apps worth a damn anymore. My phone kept telling me I was getting perfect sleep scores every night, but I was dragging through my days like a zombie. So I borrowed my brother's trail cam and set it up on a tripod facing my bed. Caught myself sitting bolt upright at 2:47 AM staring at the wall for a solid three minutes before flopping back down. No memory of it at all. Now I wonder how many nights I've been doing weird stuff like that my whole life without knowing. Makes you think twice about whether "feeling fine" actually means anything.

The part about "sitting bolt upright at 2:47 AM" gave me chills. That's super specific. Did you end up keeping that trail cam setup for a few weeks or just that one night? Because I'd be obsessed if I saw that once. Would want to film every night just to see if it happens again.

Oh WOW, that is actually kind of freaky to think about. But you're not giving your sleep app enough credit here - it wasn't "lying," it was just picking up on movement that you didn't remember, which is pretty impressive for a phone sensor honestly. The real lesson is that feeling fine doesn't always mean NOTHING weird is happening, and that's a MUCH scarier thought than the app being wrong.
