My old dispatcher's advice about turnaround time was dead wrong
Back in 2018, a dispatcher in Nashville told me to always quote delivery times 20% longer than I actually planned, saying customers expect delays and will be happier early. Last month I tried that on a 3-day furniture haul to Atlanta and gave myself a 4-day window, then a storm hit and I arrived on day 5, losing the client's trust and a future contract worth about $2,800. Has anyone else gotten outdated advice from veteran contractors that actually hurt their reputation with modern customers?
