Finally cracked the code on my fitness tracker's heart rate readings.
My fitness tracker was giving wild heart rate numbers during runs. After some trial and error, I realized wearing it higher up my arm made all the difference. Now my activity data feels reliable for the first time.

Interesting that moving it helped you, but that kind of variable reading is a red flag for me. My old tracker did the same thing no matter where I wore it, and it turned out the sensor was just junk. A device should work right out of the box if it's designed well. Having to find a sweet spot for basic data makes the whole tool seem unreliable long-term. Maybe some brands are better than others, but that core function should be solid from the start.

Ugh, that junk sensor feeling is the worst.

Wondered if sometimes our own bodies just change day to day, making a perfect reading spot hard to lock down for even good tech, @the_wyatt. Maybe the junk feeling comes from that constant chase.

Actually, a little trial and error seems normal for something that has to read through skin. My good one needed a snug fit on the wrist bone, but now it's solid. That's just finding how the tool works, not a sign it's broken.
