inSaw a huge old oak in Savannah with some wild growth patterns
It's like the tree built its own flying buttresses. Makes you wonder if it's a response to the soft, wet ground down there.

inHad a weird power issue on a customer's gaming PC in Tempe yesterday
Wait, hours? Ngl that's brutal. I'd be so mad at myself.

inMy kid asked me why I never build anything for us at home
Man, my dad was a mechanic and our family car was always the last one to get fixed. I get where you're coming from, but I see it the total opposite way. You framing those houses is how you put food on your table and keep a roof over your kid's head. That flat pack bookcase time with him is the real building for your family, not some fancy fence. Your best work is providing for them, full stop.

inTIL that a quiet bench in a park can change how you think about work.
Oh man, that broken clock example is so good. But I gotta push back a little on the idea that the park itself is the key. For me, it's the total lack of demands. A busy street corner still has ads, noise, people needing things. The park bench doesn't ask you to buy anything or hurry up. It's that pure empty space that lets your brain finally catch the weird little thing, like a squirrel's loop or a stuck clock hand, and actually learn from it.
