A wedding planner in Tacoma said my bouquets looked 'too perfect' and it stuck with me.

She explained that a slightly looser, wilder style feels more emotional and personal to the couple, which made me reconsider my whole approach to structured arrangements.

But what does "too perfect" even mean, like fake looking?

Look at a classic car show. Those flawless paint jobs and perfect chrome are the whole point. That kind of perfection shows real skill and care. Calling something "too perfect" is just a way to dismiss work that actually took serious effort. Some people just can't handle seeing something done right.

Right, it's like when you see a paintjob that looks so smooth it doesn't even look like paint anymore. @ivanscott, the trick is to work in some subtle texture or color variation (like a bit of metallic flake) so your eye has something to actually focus on besides just "oooh shiny". A guy I knew used to leave the tiniest bit of orange peel on his final clear coat on purpose, just enough so the light would catch differently. Makes a huge difference between "looks like a plastic toy" and "looks like a really well-done car.

Perfect is boring, let the flowers breathe a little.
