I've been to a few old parks around here and honestly, they're just benches and trees with some faded play equipment. Not really sure what's so special about them that we need to compare them to beaches. Beaches at least have water and sand, which is a whole different thing. Feels like people are making a bigger deal out of this than it needs to be.

Yeah flaxseed oil is honestly kind of a scam for cast iron. The drying oils like that just don't bond right with the pan, they always end up chipping off on you. You're better off just using Crisco or vegetable oil, it's way more forgiving and doesn't get all flaky like that.
