The way I used to stack firewood was all wrong until a neighbor pointed it out

For years I'd just pile logs in a messy heap against the shed, and half of it would rot before I could burn it. My neighbor, Frank, saw it last fall and said, 'Kid, you're building a mold farm, not a woodpile.' He showed me how to stack it bark-side-up in a single row with air gaps, and not a single piece went bad this winter. How do you all season your wood to keep it dry?

Frank just saved you from a very damp crime.

Very damp crime" is a perfect way to put it, @the_taylor. I was definitely about to try and dry my phone in a bag of rice, which I've heard can actually make the corrosion worse. Frank telling me to just shut it off and use those silica gel packets instead was a real save.

Wait, who still uses the rice trick?
