Found a $20 bill in the office vending machine coin return slot yesterday
Been working reception at a car dealership for three years and that was the most exciting thing that's happened besides someone bringing donuts. Has anyone else found random cash in weird spots at their boring job?

The vending machine at my old job had a coin return slot that was always jammed with pennies, so twenty bucks is pretty impressive. Actually I think you might have the wrong idea there. Most modern vending machines don't really have a traditional coin return slot that spits out paper money. It was probably from someone trying to use a $20 bill on a machine that only takes $5s and smaller, which is common in a lot of office break rooms. Still, free money is free money.

So you really think someone just walked away from a $20 bill without checking if the machine took it? How long would you leave cash sitting in a vending machine before figuring it wasn't coming back?

And actually @robins83 is right about the bill size thing, but I have to gently push back on the idea that most modern machines don't take $20s. Plenty of newer models absolutely do accept $20s, especially in places like hospitals or college campuses where people carry larger bills. The real issue is probably that the bill was crumpled or worn, which older sensors reject even if the machine technically accepts twenties.
