Changed my mind about dream puzzles after the lost library door

I had this dream where I kept walking past a library door that had a number pad on it. I thought I knew the code, it was 1972, but the door never opened. After about eight tries in the dream, I realized the numbers were backward because I was looking at them in a mirror. It took me almost the whole night to figure that out. Anyone else have a dream problem that took forever to solve because you were missing something simple?

Had a buddy who kept falling off cliffs in his dreams until he realized he was never looking down at his feet, just staring ahead at the horizon. Maybe your brain was too busy checking the numbers and forgot to check what was actually holding the pad up.

...so I started counting backwards in my head and the door opened on the first try. @kelly638 you might be right about overthinking it, but I've learned that sometimes your brain just has to work through the dumb stuff first. My advice for next time is to try the opposite of whatever feels obvious. Also, if there's a mirror or reflection in your dream, pay attention to it. I've had three or four dreams like that now, and every time it was something super simple I was looking at wrong.
