Talked to my plumber about his website and now I'm rethinking our whole 'value prop' thing.

He said, 'Harper, I don't need you to tell me I'm the best plumber in Phoenix. I need you to get my phone to ring when someone's toilet is overflowing at 2 AM.' It hit different because we spend so much time on fancy brand messaging for our agency clients. Has anyone else had a simple chat that made you strip your own pitch way back down to basics?

Man, that's it right there... we get so lost in our own echo chamber. The real job is just connecting a problem to a solution, nothing else.

My barber said he just wants his chair filled, not some story about craft. It's all just matching a need.

Yeah but that's kind of sad, @charles_mitchell. If my barber didn't care about the craft, I'd find a new one.
