Had a 6.7 Powerstroke truck that changed my mind on oil change intervals
For years I ran 15,000 miles between oil changes on my Ford 6.7, thought the synthetic could handle it. Then I sent a sample to Blackstone Labs after 11,000 miles and they came back with high fuel dilution, told me to cut it to 7,500. I did that for two changes and sent another sample last month, numbers were night and day. The viscosity stayed right where it should be and wear metals dropped by almost 40 percent. That lab report was the proof I needed, now I'm a firm believer in the 7,500 mile mark for these trucks. Anyone else had Blackstone call them out on their maintenance habits?

Damn, 40% less wear metal? That's some serious data. Makes you wonder how many people are running their shit way past due without even knowing it.

lol dude I'm probably the queen of running stuff way past due. My car is held together with sheer luck and broken timing belt prayers. 40% less wear sounds like sci fi to me, I'm out here thrilled if my engine doesn't make a weird noise for a week straight.
But seriously, it makes me wonder if half the people on here are just ignoring their check engine light like I do. You know it's bad when the dashboard starts looking like a christmas tree.

It's wild how we do this with so many things, not just cars. I see people running their phones with cracked screens for like a year, or wearing shoes with no tread left until they slip in a puddle. It's like we all have this internal countdown timer that says "eh, I'll fix it when it actually breaks" instead of preventing the problem. Kinda makes you wonder if we're all just ignoring little problems everywhere until they turn into big ones (like ignoring a weird noise until the transmission falls out).
