Update: My gas station credit card got skimped at a Shell in Tucson last week
I stopped for gas at a Shell on Speedway around 9pm last Thursday and used my card at the pump. Two days later I got a fraud alert for $180 at a grocery store 20 miles away. The cashier told me they've had issues with skimmers on pump 4 for months but nobody reported it. Has anyone else had luck with getting the station to cover losses or did you just eat the chargeback?

Cashier told me they've had issues with skimmers on pump 4 for months but nobody reported it" - that's the most infuriating part right there. Management probably knew and just hoped nobody would say anything. I got hit at a Mobil in Phoenix last year, same deal, $250 at a Walmart two towns over. When I went back to the station to complain, the guy just shrugged and said "not my problem." I filed a chargeback with my bank and got the money back in like a week, but the station never did anything. Sucks that we have to be the ones checking pumps now, but I wiggle the card reader before I swipe anywhere sketchy.

Pump 4 got me once in Phoenix, except I didn’t realize until my card got declined at a taco stand the next day. Guess I’m the official pump wiggler now.

That station management shrugging it off is the worst part. Same thing happened to me at a Shell off the I-10. Guy behind the counter just stared at his phone. Bank reversed the charges but the station never even put up a warning sign. Wiggling that reader is the only way now. Sucks but it works.
