Why does nobody talk about the mental back-and-forth of waiting for a slow bus when you're already running late?

I stand at the stop watching every car go by, debating if I should just start walking and risk missing it or stay put and be even later, and my brain won't shut up about it.

I waited at the Elm Street stop for 45 minutes once in the rain. I used to believe staying put was the smart move, but that day changed my mind. Now I just start walking after ten minutes because the stress of waiting makes me crazy. The bus always shows up right after I leave anyway, so at least I'm getting somewhere.

After 30 minutes at Maple Street, I started walking too and never looked back!

Walk and regret. That limbo is the worst kind of brain torture. You check the tracking app, then your watch, then the empty road. A different bus route zooms by full of people looking cozy and on time. The second you give up and round the corner, you hear the rumble of your bus pulling up. Now you're sweaty, later, and mad at the city.

Saw my friend sprint after a bus he'd just left.
