inPro tip: I thought tap-to-pay at gas stations was a scam until my card got skimmed in Tampa
Skimmers are pretty rare though, right?

inJust got back from the Eagle Rock Loop in Arkansas and the trail markers were a complete mess.
Yeah, messed up trail markers can really ruin a hike. Makes you waste so much time second guessing every turn. Hope you still had some good views out there.

inMy old foreman in Pittsburgh said to always pre-heat the 2-inch plate, even if the spec didn't call for it.
Ever wonder how many of those "overkill" rules are just from guys who already paid for the lesson? Like @williams.sage said about the feeler gauge, it's always the hidden gap that gets you. My old boss had a thing about grinding off mill scale on any load-bearing joint, even if you were just tacking. He said the scale traps impurities and you'll get porosity. Saw a guy skip it on some structural bracing, and the tacks looked solid. Whole thing popped loose when they went to lift it, dropped a beam corner-first into the shop floor. That sound is hard to forget.

inWarning about that new flexible hoof packing material
Yeah the heat gun can work but you gotta be so careful... it's easy to overheat the area and damage the hoof wall. I've seen it make things worse when someone held it too close. A hair dryer on low is actually a lot safer for that step, still gets it warm enough to bond without the risk.

inOur club in Boston had a huge fight about whether to count audiobooks as reading
Tell you what, it's the pressure to keep it up that gets me. You see people online doing these perfect routines and feel like you have to match that energy every single day. It's just not real life. My cousin did the same thing, bought all the gear and everything. Lasted maybe six weeks before she was back to sleeping in and calling it self care. Sometimes simple is just better.
