After a messy fight, my sister and I talked it out, and now we text every week

Knight.viola has a point about normal changing. But who needs some deep talk when you can just send pictures of burnt toast every morning? My cousin and I mended things by sharing pics of ugly parking jobs. We started with a car halfway over the line and now it's a game. That stupid contest made us close again without any big chat.

Used to think big blowout fights meant you had to have a huge, deep talk to fix things. Watching my brother and me just start sending dumb memes every Thursday after a year of silence changed that. The weekly texts about nothing, like a photo of his bad coffee, did more than any planned talk. It built a simple bridge back to normal.

That part about a simple bridge back to normal really hits home. My friend had a falling out with her sister over some family drama, and they didn't speak for months. Then she just texted her a picture of their mom's weird garden gnome with no caption. Her sister replied with a crying-laugh emoji. Now they just send each other pictures of ugly decor they find, like @haydenmurray said, it's those dumb weekly texts about nothing that built the new normal. They never did have the big talk, but the connection is back.
