Actually had a client skip seam sealer on their basement floor last year. We used a heavy duty commercial carpet with a tight weave, and it's held up fine even with their kids running around. Sometimes the carpet type itself can handle the wear if it's chosen right.

Totally... the right angle ones are a game changer too. Keep a couple different sizes in my bag, saves a trip back to the toolbox every time.
