My audio interface started crackling mid recording session last night

I was about 45 minutes into recording a podcast episode when my Focusrite Scarlett just started popping and crackling out of nowhere. I tried switching USB ports, restarting the software, even swapped cables, but nothing helped right away. Finally I realized my laptop was plugged into a power strip that also had a space heater and a mini fridge on the same circuit. Unplugged the other stuff and it cleared up almost instantly. Has anyone else had weird interference issues from sharing a power strip with appliances?

Preach man, I had this EXACT same problem mixing a live band recording once. Thought my interface was toast until I noticed my laptop was plugged into the same circuit as a window AC unit that kept kicking on and off. Every time it cycled, my audio would sound like radio static for a good 30 seconds. Drove me NUTS trying to figure it out. Ended up running a heavy duty extension cord to a different room just for my gear. Power quality matters way more than people give it credit for.

Used to think it was just bad luck but that fridge story changed my whole setup.

Weren't you already using a different circuit though?
