Debate: Is that fancy new vibrating concrete screed worth the $1,800 price tag? I bought one for a big patio job last month and I'm not convinced it saved me any real time.

Wait, you spent eighteen hundred dollars on a tool for one patio? That's wild to me. I rented a basic power screed for a weekend last summer for like a hundred bucks. It got the job done fine. Unless you're pouring slabs every single week, that price is just crazy.

A hundred bucks for a weekend rental is exactly why I'd never do it that way. The last time I tried a rental, half my Saturday was gone just picking it up and returning it, and the thing was beat to death. For eighteen hundred, you own a tool that's ready when you are, and you know its history. It's not just about that one patio, it's about never dealing with rental hassle again.

But what if you need it again next year?

That half-day rental hassle Linda mentioned, how much is your own Saturday time actually worth?

Yeah but how many times is "next year" gonna happen? Like, are you really planning another big concrete project?
