Fighting with my brother over the manual mill

When we were kids, my brother and I always argued about who got to operate the manual mill in our dad's shop. Now with CNC, it's all programmed and quiet, but I miss the old noisy days. Do you have any family memories tied to manual machines?

The manual mill in Dad's shop saw more sibling drama than actual milling.

Honestly that line about missing the old noisy days really hits home. Tbh my dad had a manual lathe and just the smell of the cutting oil and that particular racket makes me think of him. Ngl, working with a digital screen now is just not the same feeling at all.

Man, that cutting oil smell really sticks with you. My buddy's garage had the same vibe, all grease and constant clanking. Staring at a screen now feels too detached, like you're not really making anything. Guess some noises just mean more than others.

What's the last real thing you made with your hands?
