inHad a neighbor call out my composting setup last month
Buddy of mine had his whole compost pile dumped out by raccoons after someone told him eggshells were fine. Took him a week to get them to stop coming back.

inRemembering the guy at the hardware store who showed me how to fix a leaky faucet
Swapping a brass one for stainless steel saved me a headache last year. That little tip the old timer gave you actually holds up, the cheap stuff really does get stripped easier.

inWarning: I told myself I was eco-friendly but just found my receipts from last year...
Spot on @simonp76. That gap you mentioned is exactly what got me thinking too. Once you realize offsets are basically paying someone else to maybe not emit, it feels hollow. The real kicker is that most programs just double count the same trees or fund stuff that would've happened anyway. It's like we're all just playing pretend with the planet. The honest fix is cutting flights and driving less, but that's the hard part nobody wants to discuss. Feels like we're stuck in a cycle of feeling bad then buying our way out of the guilt.

inAppreciation post for the creator who finally explained lighting ratios in plain english
I get that it clicked for you, and thats cool, but I see it differently. Saying "turn your key light down until the shadow matches your background" skips over why your background is lit that way in the first place. If your background is too bright or too dark, that rule gives you a bad starting point. You still need to know how to adjust the background light separately, or you end up chasing your tail. It worked for you in that one case, but it isnt a shortcut that fixes flat shots for everyone. I think people overcomplicate lighting, but oversimplifying it just trades one problem for another.

inThat stat about 80% of user searches being zero-click destroyed my SEO strategy
Does brand authority actually pay the bills though? SparkToro's data shows the click-through rates dropping every year, and Google keeps pulling more content into their own results. How are you measuring that authority in a way that proves it's worth the investment?
