My cousin's dog ate my new sleeping pad and I'm not even mad

I was showing off my fancy new insulated pad at a family BBQ last weekend. My cousin's lab, Buster, sniffed it once and then just took a huge bite right out of the middle. My cousin just shrugged and said, "Guess it wasn't tough enough for real wilderness testing." It hit different because he was totally right, I was babying gear meant to be used. Anyone have a rec for a truly bombproof pad? No fancy colors needed.

Your cousin's dog did you a favor, man. That's a weird way to test gear, but maybe the point is that nothing is truly bombproof. A lab's chew toy is a different league than sleeping on some rocks. Just get a pad you can actually sleep on, not one built like a truck tire.

Honestly used to chase that bombproof label for everything. Watching a lab shred that pad was a real eye opener. Turns out some gear is just overbuilt for problems you'll never actually have. Now I pick stuff for comfort first, and hope it lasts.

Yeah it's like that with so much stuff now. Robins83 is right, it's all about what you actually need, not the toughest thing on the shelf. I see people doing it with phones and bags too, paying for armor they'll never use lol.
