How my kid's cable fix made me embrace family on the job

Having family help on cable jobs makes them easier, I found out.

Got to agree with that. My oldest started handing me tools on jobs last summer and it cut my time crawling through attics by a solid third. Having someone to run back to the truck or hold a flashlight frees you up to focus on the actual wiring. Just keep the tasks simple and clear for them, like sorting parts or managing the cord reel. Turns a long day into something that actually feels productive for everyone.

My buddy's contractor swears by having his son fetch tools for the same reason. @michaeltorres, cutting attic time by a third is no joke.

My nephew did that for me once, just holding the flashlight. Straight up saved me like twenty minutes trying to find a dropped screw. Kid was stoked to help too.

But come on, it's just holding a light. How much time are we really saving here?
