Switched to a cash-only grocery budget and saw $80 difference in one month
I used to just swipe my card at the grocery store and never really noticed what I was spending. Last month I decided to try taking only $50 cash for my weekly trip. I was shocked that I actually planned my meals more carefully and stopped grabbing random snacks. The first week I had $6 left over, which never happens with a card. After a full month, I saved about $80 compared to my usual spending. Does anyone else find that paying with cash makes you think twice about small purchases?

Right? It's wild how much difference it makes. I did the same thing a few months back and it was like seeing my money for the first time. I mean, I'd just grab whatever looked good at the store before and now I'm actually checking prices.

@grantp14 Yeah, I actually found a nickel on the sidewalk yesterday and felt like a financial genius.

Cash just makes me feel broke faster when I already track everything on my card just fine.
