My aunt swore by frozen veggies for saving money but I always thought fresh was better
She told me last year that frozen broccoli has just as many nutrients as fresh and costs half as much, so I finally tried it for a stir fry. Turns out she was right, the texture was fine and I saved about $3 per meal. Anybody else have a relative who was annoyingly right about budget cooking tips?

Respectfully disagree on the texture thing though. Frozen broccoli ALWAYS comes out mushy when I cook it, no matter what I do. Fresh has that crunch that I actually want.

Huh, @mason_lopez, I gotta push back on that one. If you roast frozen broccoli straight from the bag at high heat, it gets crispy on the edges and stays firm, not mushy at all. I think the trick is not to thaw it first or steam it.

3 dollars a meal is legit though. I mean is a slightly crunchier piece of broccoli really worth throwing away an extra 60 bucks a month over? Feels like people get way too worked up about produce texture.
