Just realized half the plant shop tags in my town mix up pothos and philodendron vines

I spent a whole morning at the library with a plant key and found out the easiest way to tell them apart is by looking for a little sheath on new philodendron leaves, which matters because they need slightly different light and water.

My local nursery does the same thing, it drives me nuts lol. That sheath trick is a lifesaver.

My local hardware store has a whole rack labeled "assorted philodendron" that is, I am pretty sure, just golden pothos they got a deal on. The sheath thing is the only way I can keep it straight without pulling out a book.
