Our group switched from voting on books to a rotating host system

We used to just vote on a list each month, but half the members would zone out during talks. Last fall, we changed it so each person picks a book when it's their turn to host. The host leads the chat and brings questions they wrote. In six months, our average meeting went from 45 minutes to over 90, and everyone reads the book now. The host cares more because they chose it, and the questions are way better. Has your club tried something like this, or does voting work better for you?

The host cares more" is the key to most group projects.

But is it really that big of a deal though?

Average meeting went from 45 minutes to over 90" is wild to me. That's a huge jump in time and focus. Sounds like the change basically saved your club.
