Update: I just got my first solo project approval from management

Once had to build a treehouse by myself as a kid. My dad checking it over and saying it was solid made my year.

Warning: A client's request from the 90s still cracks me up

Right, it's like how tight deadlines force teams to work better under pressure. Those awkward shouts just cut out the extra talk and got straight to the point.

Caught my dog trying to bury a piece of obsidian in the backyard

Heard my buddy's lab once buried a TV remote in the backyard. Totally fits what @joel_jones said about hard objects feeling like treasures to hide. They only found it after a rainstorm washed the dirt away.

I called a monstera a philodendron and the whole room went quiet

Got a similar story from a local nursery visit last year. Called a pothos a philodendron and the worker gently told me they're different plants. Monsteras and philodendrons get mixed up a lot because they're in the same plant family. But monsteras have those cool split leaves, while philodendrons usually don't. Felt super embarrassed at the time, but it's a common mistake. Your experience shows how plant folks can be nice about teaching each other.

Rant: Quarter panel weld warped on me last job

My last quarter panel looked like a funhouse mirror after I got done with it. Rushing for a client always turns my welder into a distortion machine. Try using more tack welds and letting things cool between passes, even with someone watching the clock.
