I finally found a way to fix those impossible plastic bumper cracks
Been fighting with a cracked bumper on a 2019 Civic for days. Tried plastic welding with a cheap kit from Harbor Freight and it just made it worse. Then I grabbed some fiberglass mesh tape and sandwiched it between two layers of epoxy on the back side. Held solid after sanding and priming, no flex cracks showing. Anybody else got a go-to method for thin plastic that keeps splitting?

Tbh is it really that deep? It's a plastic bumper on a 2019 civic, not a show car. Slap some duct tape on the back and call it a day, it's gonna get more rock chips and parking lot dings anyway. All that fiberglass mesh and epoxy sounds like overkill for a bumper that's basically disposable plastic. Half the time those cheap bumpers crack again from road debris or cold weather no matter what you do. I'd rather spend my weekend on something that actually matters than fussing over a hairline crack that nobody but you will ever notice.

Heard a buddy say the exact same thing @piper779, then watched his tape job peel off at 70 mph on the interstate and flap around like a flag. Ended up spending more time chasing down a new bumper on Facebook Marketplace than it would've taken to just fix it right the first time.

So is "disposable plastic" really worth the time you'll waste fixing it twice?
