Finally got the door gap right on that '07 Silverado. Took me almost 4 hours for one side.

What was the actual trick to getting the gap right?

The "actual trick" was a lot of swearing and then eyeballing it. I spent way too long with a ruler before I just said forget it and pushed it until it looked close enough. Honestly, if you stare at any project long enough you just stop caring about perfect. The gap is probably wrong but I'm not touching it again.

Yeah, the "stop caring about perfect" part is the real skill to learn.
