My local museum's new exhibit is just a bunch of broken pottery
Last week, the Springfield History Museum opened their 'Lost Civilizations' wing. They spent 3 years digging at the old mill site downtown and the big reveal is literally 12 pieces of a clay jug. I was so hyped for something cool, like tools or bones. Anyone else get let down by a dig that promised more than it delivered?

Broken pottery" is such a letdown. They make it sound like a huge find but it's just some old dirt and clay pieces. Makes you wonder what they spent all that time and money on.

Yeah the "broken pottery" thing gets me too. The trick is to look up what they actually learned from it later. Sometimes those little pieces show trade routes or daily life stuff they had no clue about.

My buddy worked a dig in Turkey where they found a ton of broken roof tiles. That pile of junk showed them the whole neighborhood burned down at once, which changed the history of the city. Mason_lopez is right, you have to wait for the report.
