Went to the new library downtown and the whole 'quiet space' rule is making it useless for actual work.

So they built a place for thinking but banned the sound of thinking? My laptop fan alone would get me kicked out.

Right, the "sound of thinking" line is perfect. It's like how every coffee shop is now a silent library where you can't even unwrap a muffin. We've made all these shared spaces for work and focus but then banned any human noise or normal tech sounds. My old laptop sounds like a jet engine too, guess we're all supposed to buy expensive silent ones.

Ugh, right? Why do we have to be so quiet now? My old laptop fan kicks on and I feel like I'm breaking some unspoken law.
