Honestly, my car's check engine light came on right before a road trip

I was at a gas station in Toledo, and the code reader said it was the oxygen sensor. I drove it anyway and spent the whole weekend worried it would die. Has anyone else just ignored a warning light because they couldn't deal with it right then?

Saw a mechanic online say those sensors can get fooled by bad gas or a loose gas cap. Sometimes the fix is way easier than the code makes it seem. Makes you wonder how many people replace parts they don't actually need.

My oxygen sensor light was on for months, but a bottle of fuel injector cleaner actually fixed it for me.

My old Civic had that same light on for almost a year straight. I was sure I'd need a whole new sensor, but two tanks with some cheap cleaner from the auto parts store cleared it right up. It's crazy how often a simple fix like that gets overlooked. I guess a lot of gunk just builds up over time and throws the reading off.

Had a similar thing with my truck's check engine light. It was a faulty gas cap seal letting in too much air, tripping the sensor. A new cap was under twenty bucks and the light went off after a few drives.
