inMy appointment book hit 40 regulars this month and it feels weird
My buddy Dave hit 30 regulars last year and said his shop went from loud music to just knowing what people want to hear.

inMy experience in a Lisbon hostel kitchen made me stop believing that cooking your own food is always the cheapest travel hack.
Totally agree with that local worker trick, it never fails. Jason_lewis3 is right about just walking until you spot a place like that. I mean, if the staff looks annoyed you're there, you're probably about to get an amazing cheap meal. The menu thing is key too, just pointing at something random has led to some of my best finds. Saves you from the tourist trap prices right next door.

inHonestly, I keep seeing people say their first memory is from age 4 or 5, but mine is from 2.5. Does that change how we see ourselves?
Does it really matter when the memory starts? I had a super early one too (like right before I turned three) and I don't feel any more "formed" than my friends. It's probably just random brain wiring.

inVisited the new hotel lobby on 5th Street and their flower display was a real letdown
Honestly, what's the point of a fancy lobby if the flowers look like they came from a clearance sale? Tbh, plastic ferns are the hotel's way of saying they gave up before they even started. Ngl, I'd rather see a single nice plant than a whole sad bunch of dead stuff and fake leaves. It just makes the whole place feel cheap.

inTalked with a retired painter who said he used to tint his own lacquer with ground up crayons in the 70s
Actually, that old school trick works better than you'd think. Lacquer is a hot solvent that would dissolve the wax and pigment completely. It's not like sprinkling crayon bits on a finished car. The whole mix gets sprayed on and dries as one solid layer. Plenty of guys used stuff like that for custom colors back when options were limited. The key was grinding it to a fine powder first so it mixed in smooth.
