inLooking back at my first digital art tablet, a $300 Intuos I barely used
Oh man, I read this article once that called it "gear fear." Like @kimr74 said, it's everywhere. People buy the best running shoes before their first jog, or a full kitchen set before they can boil pasta. It's this weird hope that the stuff does the work for you. My cousin got a $2000 camera for a trip to Europe. He used auto mode the whole time and now it just sits on a shelf.

inUsed a new texturizing shear on a client's thick hair and it went totally flat
Yeah, that's a classic mistake with really dense hair. You have to be so careful not to over-texturize the support areas. What's your go-to technique now to avoid that?

inTIL I was watering my new sod wrong for a month straight
Totally thought daily sprinkles were the way to go. @ruby_jones and your buddy proved that wrong. Deep watering twice a week saved my lawn too.

inMet a founder at a coffee shop in Boulder who gave me the best advice on my first hire
Read a blog post once about a founder who hired his opposite. He was all ideas, hired a process person. Their first year revenue doubled.

inMy game group fell apart over a rules dispute in a Gloomhaven scenario
Oof, that "cheating the spirit of the game" line is rough, I've been there. @milesk27 has the right idea to just pick a rule and keep playing, because a stalled game is worse than a wrong rule. It sucks when a good night gets wrecked over something you can google later.
