I thought those 'credit repair' ads on the radio were all scams until my brother used one

My brother in Tampa had a 580 score from some old collections. He was skeptical too, but he paid a company called ClearPath Credit about $100 a month. After 6 months, they got two accounts removed and his score jumped to 640. It made me realize some of them might actually do the legwork you could do yourself. Has anyone else had a legit good result with a service like that, or is my brother just a lucky case?

Why skipping issues might be the best way to get into comics

A lot of comic fans insist you need to read from the very first issue to understand a character (which I hear all the time at cons). I totally disagree because that just makes it feel like homework. My own problem was wanting to read Avengers but getting overwhelmed by how many books there are. I solved it by just picking a famous story arc, like 'Infinity Gauntlet', and starting there instead. It worked so well that I didn't feel lost at all (honestly, it was more fun). Now I tell new fans to try this method instead of chasing every single comic. It saves time and lets you actually enjoy the stories.

Our whole book club meeting fell apart over a single character choice in 'Project Hail Mary'

Wait, he just got up and left the cafe? Over a sophon? I mean, I get being into a book, but that's a whole new level. I'd maybe argue about it for a bit, but a full walkout is wild. It's not like the author personally insulted his mom. People get so heated about the science being "smart enough" they forget to just enjoy the story.

Visited a bakery in Portland that sells 'ugly' but perfect pastries for half price. Is this a win for reducing waste or a fail for normalizing lower standards?

Yeah "lower standards for a crooked croissant" is a wild take lol. I grabbed some wonky donuts from a place like that and they were amazing. It's just smart, not cheap.
