inA guy at a library in Boise watched me struggle with a for loop for 20 minutes and then said one sentence that fixed it
Twenty minutes?? I would've given up after five and just stared out the window pretending I meant to do that. The part that gets me is he just watched the whole time and said ONE sentence, like he was waiting for the perfect moment to drop it. That's either the most patient person alive or kind of a weird flex, honestly. What did he even say? You can't leave it at that, I need to know the sentence.

inFound out my torque wrench was lying to me by 8 ft lbs and I want to know who is actually right about re-calibration
I bought a cheap beam wrench off Amazon for $30 to use as my garage reference, so take that for whatever a stranger's opinion is worth. For what you're doing, stem bolts and lockrings, a beam check every few months is plenty and you only ship the clicker when it drifts past a few percent. Carbon bars are the one place I'd eat the $40, since a crushed bar costs a lot more than a calibration.

inMy grandma's neighbor repeated the same rice pudding recipe to me three times last month
Writing it down might be the thing that keeps it alive, though. My aunt scribbled her mom's soup recipe on an index card and now the whole family makes it every winter, so maybe the note is less about losing her and more about passing it on.
